Terms of sale

1. Purpose

These terms govern the “Kompile Pro” subscription and the use of the Kompile software, published by Baptiste Guilleux, 70 rue Auguste Chevallier, 37000 Tours, France, SIRET 109 247 007 00015.

They apply to any subscription taken out from this site. Subscribing means accepting them.

2. The seller

The sale is concluded with Paddle.com Market Ltd, a company incorporated in England, acting as the publisher’s authorised reseller and merchant of record. Paddle invoices, collects payment, applies any tax due in your country and issues your receipt; its own terms, reachable from the checkout page, govern the transaction.

The publisher remains responsible for the software, its licence and its support. These terms describe what the subscription unlocks and for how long; where they conflict with the reseller’s terms on payment itself, the reseller’s terms prevail.

3. The software

Kompile is a desktop application that turns code into video. Rendering is entirely local: the files you hand it never leave your machine, and no account is needed to use it.

Requirements, as of these terms: macOS 12 or later, and Google Chrome installed. The engine drives the browser already on your machine rather than shipping one.

The free tier is unlimited in time and in number of videos. It produces 720p videos carrying a watermark.

4. Prices and tiers

The Pro subscription is offered at €6.95 per month or €59.95 per year. VAT not applicable under article 293 B of the French General Tax Code; any tax due in your own country is applied by the reseller at checkout.

Pro unlocks the Diff and Presentation modes, batch renders, 1080p and 4K quality, and removes the watermark. Build and Run stay unlimited on both tiers.

Your price is guaranteed at every renewal, for as long as the subscription runs uninterrupted. A rise in the public price does not apply to a running subscription; it would apply to a new one taken out after cancellation.

5. Licence

The subscription grants a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Kompile, for one individual. It is not a sale of the software.

Activation uses a signed key, emailed after payment and pasted into the application. The key is verified offline: the application works without a connection.

You may not resell, rent, redistribute or share the key; circumvent the free tier’s limits, in particular the watermark; or decompile the software outside the cases allowed by article L. 122-6-1 of the French Intellectual Property Code.

The videos you produce are yours, free-tier ones included, and may be published and used commercially without restriction.

6. Term, renewal and cancellation

The subscription runs for one month or one year depending on the plan chosen, and renews automatically for the same period until cancelled.

You may cancel at any time from the link on the reseller’s receipt, or by writing to contact@kompilestudio.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period: the subscription is not renewed, and Pro features remain available until its term.

On expiry the application returns to the free tier. No video already produced is removed, altered or made unusable.

7. Right of withdrawal

Digital content being delivered immediately, you expressly request performance before the end of the fourteen-day period and waive your right of withdrawal, under article L. 221-28, 13° of the French Consumer Code. This waiver is collected at checkout.

Independently of that right, the publisher applies a fourteen-day, no-questions-asked refund policy, which is more favourable and requires no justification.

8. Updates and availability

Software updates are included in the subscription and downloaded by the application; they install on the next quit, never in the middle of work in progress.

Since the software runs on your machine, no online service is required for everyday use: this site or our servers being down does not stop you working.

The publisher may change the software’s features. It will not remove an essential paid-tier feature during a running subscription without offering a pro-rata refund.

9. Liability

Kompile runs the code you hand it, on your machine, with your own rights, which is the very principle of the product. You alone are responsible for the files and programs you give it to film, for the content of the videos produced, and for publishing them.

The software is provided as is. The publisher does not warrant that it will suit a particular purpose or run without interruption, in particular on configurations or files it could not test.

Save for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, and save for personal injury, the publisher’s liability is limited to the amounts actually paid for the subscription over the twelve months preceding the event. Statutory warranties of conformity and against hidden defects remain owed and are unaffected.

10. Personal data

The data processed and what it is used for are described in the privacy policy. The software transmits neither your code, nor your files, nor your videos.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. They are written in French; this English translation is provided for information, and the French text prevails.

If something goes wrong, write to contact@kompilestudio.com first: most things are settled in one email. A complaint about payment, invoicing or refunds may also be addressed to the reseller, who is the seller of the transaction.

Failing an amicable settlement, the French courts have jurisdiction. A consumer keeps the right to bring proceedings before the court of their own domicile.
